To give you a flavour of the sort of work we take on, we've put together some information about a few of our latest ground-breaking projects. For more details about RM as a company, including recent financial and performance reports, click here.
RM Mobile One
The RM Mobile One follows proudly in the footsteps of the RM One PC. Recognising the classroom limitations and vulnerabilities of conventional notebooks, the RM Mobile One is the first notebook to be designed exclusively for one of the toughest and most demanding environments and audiences – classrooms and their pupils.
Working with teachers, technicians, and network managers right from the outset, the RM Mobile One has been designed to be robust and secure, give all-day usage, and provide user-friendly features.
Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) E-Assessment Project
This world-class on-screen assessment project is unlike anything seen before and was named Innovative Project of the Year at the 2005 Computing Awards. Students are asked to carry out a number of tasks using a suite of desktop applications. Each mouse click, keystroke and webpage visited is recorded, and performance feedback is provided automatically at the end of the test. RM is supporting the implementation of this project on a national level, due for completion in 2007.
Glow – the Scottish Schools Digital Network (National Intranet)
Glow is an initiative that's set to transform Scotland’s education system. Enabling every council, school, teacher and pupil to access learning tools via a central secure network, Glow will feature a managed teaching and learning environment, online video conferencing, email and live streaming. RM will be setting up the internet based portal that will make this project a reality, allowing all 32 Scottish Local Authorities to remodel their pupils as self-motivated online learners. For the techies among you, this will be the largest ever Sharepoint deployment, with over 250,000 users.
Did you know?
In 2004, 2005 and 2006, RM Support Online was voted one of the ‘Ten Best Web Support Sites’ by the Association of Support Professionals (ASP), a prestigious award that showcases excellence in online service and support.
Internet for Learning (IFL) is the leading educational Internet Service Provider (ISP), connecting more than 7,000 educational establishments (including over 2,500 schools in the South West of England alone) via a core network with a multi-gigabit backbone. In fact, the amount of data shipped over this core network equates to over 220 copies of War and Peace every second. It gives establishments safe, available and well-supported access to online resources.
